Leveraging Logistics for Ukraine

Operating in Ukraine amid ongoing war, Vector Global Logistics draws on firsthand experience as a domestic logistics provider.

Introduction Note From Exclusive Worldwide

Behind every shipment, regulation, and delivery timeline, there is a human story.

In Ukraine, logistics goes far beyond simply moving goods. It enables companies to continue operating and contributing to the economy, while allowing people to stay, work, and support their families in an ever-changing regulatory and security environment. From the relocation of specialists and continuity of critical skills, to maintaining resilient supply chains, the human element remains central.

As Ukraine continues to navigate wartime realities, the role of trusted partners on the ground becomes increasingly important – not just for operational continuity, but for supporting the broader rebuilding of the economy and the resilience of its people.

This time, the spotlight is on Vector Global Logistics – a global freight forwarder specializing in complex and high-risk markets. With true global experience across Africa, Europe, The Middle East, North and South America and Asia, the company has recently marked their first year of expansion into Ukraine.

In this article, they share their experience of delivering reliable, end-to-end logistics solutions in a market where adaptability and local expertise have become more critical than ever.

Leveraging Logistics for Ukraine: Turning Expertise into Action

In a crisis, you can stand by and watch, or you can leverage what you know to make a difference, if you are lucky. We were lucky.

When war broke out in 2022, Vector Global pulled together an initiative called Leveraging Logistics for Ukraine. The goal was straightforward: identify urgent needs, coordinate trusted partners, and move critical resources quickly and reliably to the people and organizations that needed them most.

Logistics stand behind it all: moving humanitarian aid to communities in need, supporting the people working to keep the fragile economy going, including manufacturers, distributors, artists, farmers, who need dependable ways to import and export.

Vector Global is a global freight forwarder, meaning we plan and execute the movement of goods across borders. In a stable environment, that work can be invisible. In a crisis, it becomes a lifeline. Transportation lanes shift, documentation rules change, controls get tighter, and every delay has human and economic costs. That is exactly where experience, discipline, and strong partner coordination make the difference between “sent” and “delivered.”

Even well-intentioned shipments can stall without the right paperwork. For example, humanitarian aid imports often must be cleared at specific locations, with particular documentation, so import duties can be waived for qualifying aid per applicable law, and cargo can move without unnecessary holdbacks, inspections, time loss, and extra cost.

From Hum-Aid corridors to sustaining daily life

Since 2022, a lot has changed. Humanitarian aid corridors are now well established, and for the most part, they are functioning reliably. As the war lingers, however, new challenges continue to emerge. Ukraine must find ways to operate in “business as usual” mode while swarms of enemy drones trace the sky daily, which have led to Ukraine currently being the most mine-contaminated country in the world.

Not every truck driver wants to deliver to or pick up a load in Ukraine, and understandably so. In logistics, we refer to this market as a Complex Region. Driven by the duty to continuously excel at the services we provided to clients and partners, and our commitment to stand with the people of Ukraine, we opened Vector Ukraine in 2025, in addition to our US, Mexico, Chile, and Peru strongholds. Naturally, we applied the same discipline and proven processes to humanitarian aid deliveries since 2022, and are now supporting both international and local industries.

As technology evolves, so do the logistics puzzles

One of the buzzwords of the day is dual-use technology – tools that protect civilians and enable recovery, such as interceptor drones and demining robots. These innovations save lives and help Ukrainians breathe a little easier under the chronic stress that has become their new normal.

Our focus now is on getting these commodities efficiently to the places where they are needed most. And since these works of genius can be classified alongside military cargo, there is never a shortage of puzzles to solve. That’s where our continuous improvement culture helps us navigate challenges with confidence.

It is personal to us

Just recently after a business call, a teammate in Odesa sent us a video of a UAV hitting the residential building where he and his family live. Thank God it did not explode.

It is a terrible time for Ukraine, but the best we can do is to keep asking ourselves what each of us can and should do to be part of the solution – and then act upon the answer.

Heroes are at the front lines, and heroes need support from doctors, manufacturers, humanitarians, drivers, pilots, spouses, friends, children – the list goes on and on. As long as we remember and act worthy of their sacrifice, we may sleep well.

The value of trusted partners on the ground

In environments like Ukraine, expertise alone is not enough. What truly makes a difference is having trusted partners on the ground who understand the realities of the market.

Whether it is moving goods across complex and rapidly changing logistics corridors, or supporting the relocation and continuity of key specialists, success depends on local knowledge, strong relationships, and the ability to adapt in real time. Regulations evolve, risks shift, and what works in one region may not apply in another.

This is where experience meets proximity. Partners who are embedded in the local ecosystem, who understand administrative nuances, maintain direct connections with authorities and service providers, and can anticipate challenges before they escalate, become critical enablers of both business continuity and human stability.

In Ukraine today, logistics and people mobility are closely intertwined. Keeping supply chains moving is essential, but so is ensuring that the people behind them can operate, relocate when needed, and continue contributing to the country’s economic resilience.
